Barcelona presidential candidate Joan Laporta has stated that he intends to bring Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero back to Spain this summer.
The Catalan giants are holding their election, open to the club’s 110,000 members, on Sunday, amid unrest following the arrest of incumbent former president Josep Maria Bartomeu earlier this week.
There are three candidates for president of the club from Camp Nou, while the favorite to take the post is seen former president Laporta.
According to Daily Mail, former president Laporta, in charge when Pep Guardiola was appointed manager in 2008, knows the need for financial prudence.
City’s record scorer, Aguero, is out of contract in the summer and is available for free and the 32-year-old could be transferred in the summer to Camp Nou.
Like his friend and City target Lionel Messi, Aguero has said he will wait until the end of the season to decide on his future.
It is alleged that Laporta has appointed Aguero as a possible arrival this summer and the striker’s name is high on the wish list. / Telegraphy /
