Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher believes Mohamed Salah’s comments last week about a move to Spain were a warning to the Reds board.
Salah surprised all last week when he talked about a possible departure from Liverpool and a transfer to Spain to Real Madrid or Barcelona.
Carragher, writing in his column in Daily Telegraph, believes Salah’s comments were merely to urge the Liverpool board to act.
“The timing of initiating the player transfer story is strange. “My view is that it was a message to the Liverpool owners to offer him a lucrative new deal,” Carragher initially wrote.
“Seeing their players being sought after and watched by La Liga clubs would have worried Liverpool five years ago. Not now”.
“I am not convinced that Real Madrid and Barca can afford Salah.”
“Excess investment of milionë 125 million for a player who will turn 29 this summer is not good business,” the Englishman concluded. / Telegraph /
