Mourinho: Let’s be real, Dele Alli is unhappy

Tottenham Hotspur coach Jose Mourinho has admitted that Dele Alli is unhappy after being left on the bench in their 2-0 win over Royal Anterp in the Europa League.

Alli disappeared down the tunnel during the game, though he returned to the bench with his non-playing kit and was the only unused substitute.

The English midfielder has encountered difficulties this season under Mourinho and the situation now seems to be aggravated.

Mourinho spoke about Alli’s case and added that he had his blessing to go to the locker room, but added that the player is unhappy.

“Yes, but let’s not run away from reality,” Mourinho initially said after the match.

“A player who is on the bench and then realizes that he is not one of the five substitutes is obviously not a happy player, and I would not expect him to be happy.”

“But any player who is on the bench or any player who leaves the field as’ cool with me, they can go to the locker room and I even prefer if that happens,” the Spurs coach concluded. / Telegraph /
