Arsenal winger Mesut Ozil is ready to accept a major cut in his current salary to join Fenerbahce Turks.
Earlier in the day it was reported that Ozil had a ‘secret meeting’ with Turkish club executives about a possible transfer.
Turkish newspaper Sozcu reports that Fener president Ali Koc, sporting director Emre Belozoglu and television personality Acun Ilicali were recently in London for talks with Ozil about a move to Turkey.
While Ozil ruled out joining Fener next month, the meeting reportedly brought a promise from the German to make the move in June when he becomes a free agent.
Indeed, personal terms were reportedly reached verbally during the creative midfielder’s summit with the Turkish club’s management.
Ozil reportedly demanded an annual salary of five million euros. Furthermore, there should be a signing bonus, which should be distributed for several years.
This means that Ozil’s salary goes to eight million euros a year or 13 million euros less than the salary he currently receives at Arsenal.
“Then we will see each other again in June”, Koc is said to have replied. The aim is for the two sides to meet again in June and formalize the agreement. / Telegraph /
