Sergio Aguero and Manchester City have announced that the striker will leave the Etihad at the end of this season, after almost ten years at the club.
One of the Argentine’s big rivals over the years was Wayne Rooney during his time at Manchester United and now the Derby County manager has said his word about Aguero’s time in the Premier League.
With many praising the 32-year-old as the best foreign striker to have played in the league, Rooney was asked if he agreed, but the former England player denied it.
Mentioning names like Ruud van Nistelrooy, Dennis Bergkamp and Eric Cantona, Rooney revealed that it was actually an Arsenal legend who believes he is the best foreign striker to have played in the league.
“Aguero has been fantastic and he is certainly up there. “But if I was asked to choose then I would probably say that Thierry Henry was the best foreign player,” Rooney initially said.
“There are some in the group that come right after him like Aguero, Ruud Van Nistelrooy, Dennis Bergkamp and Eric Cantona.”
However, Rooney appreciates what Aguero has done in the last ten years.
“He is definitely one of the greats in the Premier League and that is for sure. He is up there. “He is a fantastic player.”
“He is extraordinary and he has been a revelation. “I am sure he will miss City and the Premier League because he is a quality player.”
“I do not know if he stays in England, but whatever he does, he has certainly had a fantastic career,” concluded the Englishman. /Telegraphs /
