Sadio Mane has admitted that defending the Premier League title is over, stating that the points difference between Liverpool and Manchester City is simply too big to overcome, while the Reds’ goal now is to win the Champions League.
The Liverpool striker has spoken about the season the team from Anfield is experiencing, with the ‘failure’ in England and the goal for trophies in Europe.
“First, before the end of the season I think, not only me, but every single player on the team has goals,” Mane initially told ESPN Brazil.
“It’s the same for the club, our goal from the start was to win the Champions League, the Premier League and also the Cup.”
“And now, I can say that it is over for the Premier League… it is a big difference.”
“In our head, our confidence, is always ‘never give up’, and we will not give up, but for sure, Manchester City is a good team and they are flying.”
“The top four is now our main goal in the league. “But, the Champions League, this is our main, main, main goal.”
“To win it, not to be second, but it will not be easy.”
“We will face the best teams in Europe, but we are here to beat the best in the world.”
“We will do everything possible to move forward and win the Champions League,” the Reds striker concluded. / Telegraphy /
