Tottenham Hotspur are clear and will not make a move to sign Gareth Bale from Real Madrid.
Bale, who has spent most of the season as injured, is increasingly likely to return to the Spanish capital over the summer.
According to the Times, for now, Tottenham are not considering a second season for Bale.
If Bale were to stay, it would be merely a gesture to help one of their past heroes.
When Bale left Real Madrid in the summer, it was believed it would be for the best, but it did not turn out that way.
“We hope Bale will continue with us after this season, that is the idea,” Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho said when Bale joined the club.
However, injuries and poor form have limited him, playing just 116 minutes in the Premier League this season.
He has made more appearances in the Europa League and English Cup competitions.
The Times says if Bale’s performance does not improve significantly in the coming months, he will return to Los Blancos over the summer. /Telegraph/
