Mikel Arteta has insisted that Arsenal deserved their invitation to the much-debated European Super League because of their history and long-held values.
Arsenal were named as one of the 12 founding clubs of the European Super League last Sunday alongside Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester City and Tottenham, despite the fact that they have not played in the Champions League since 2017.
Amid strong reactions against the implementation of the proposed Super League, it was suggested that the Gunners and Tottenham had no right to be named alongside Europe’s elite teams, but Arteta insists they fully deserved their involvement.
Asked what his response would be to critics claiming that Arsenal should never have been considered for the Super League, the Spanish coach was clearly telling them the story.
“That we are one of the best clubs in the world and we can not be any more proud to represent this club, its history, and we fully understand the requirements and perfection that we must pursue,” said Arteta initially.
“You can not deny history, and that history is about results, it is about a certain way of doing things, of certain values, of representing them in the right way, of having the amount of support. and the love we have for the world. ”
“And this is not a coincidence, but it has been won for years and years with merit for many people who have been involved in the history of the football club”, concluded the Arsenal coach. / Telegraphy /
